Volkswagen unveiled its second hybrid production car at the 2012 Detroit auto show: the new Jetta Hybrid, which goes on sale in November 2012. General Motors will develop and build electric motors for a rear-wheel-drive hybrid to launch in 2013. GM claims to be the first major U.S. automaker to produce electric motors in-house and says it is investing $246 million in the project.
The hybrid Honda CR-Z revealed at Tokyo
Although we are on record as not being huge fans of the Honda Insight - Toyota’s saloon hybrid – the CR-Z does look much more promising. You can think of it as an Eco replacement for the successful CR-X of years gone by. But Honda are all too well aware of the major criticisms of the Insight and have taking steps to make the CR-Z more appealing to drive.
